And so it begins. I have packed the car and turned into a familiar, westward direction. The past two days were spent making my way west and south through Kansas, into a piece of Oklahoma, and climbing into the hills of northern New Mexico. I sure do love New Mexico, and being back in the southwest for the first time since leaving Arizona in 2007 feels really nice! The colors of the rocks and soil, mesas and canyons, sagebrush, antelope, ravens, juniper, people of color, real tacos, adobe buildings, Native American art, yep I’m back in the southwestJ
Today, I will cross back into Arizona, where I lived from 2005-2007. I should arrive at Petrified Forest National Park sometime late afternoon, thus beginning my three-to-four week Artist Residency! Immersing myself in such an ancient place full of petrified wood, fossils, petroglyphs, painted deserts, endless vistas with pastel sunrises and fiery sunsets, open night skies astronomers drool over, limitless hiking, and all the while focusing the majority of my energy solely on photography…is this really happening?!?
YES, it IS really happening. And I sincerely hope you will share in this adventure with me, by checking out my photo posts and interacting with my first-ever blogJ
Thanks so much for reading!! More to come…
